Importing and Exporting Preferences

Preference files (.epf) can be both imported to and exported from the IDA-STEP allowing you to easily share individual or group preferences. You can export your HTTP proxy server settings and GUI customizations like heap status turned on and then import the preferences when you log in to your computer as another user. You can also bring the preference export file to another computer and import your preferences there to have the same settings in the new computer.

Importing Preferences

The Import wizard can be used to import preferences from the local file system to the IDA-STEP.
Follow the routine to import preferences to IDA-STEP:

The preferences from the specified file are imported into IDA-STEP.

Exporting Preferences

The Export wizard can be used to export preferences from the IDA-STEP to the local file system.
Follow the routine to export preferences:

    • Select one of the following radio buttons:
      • Export all - to add all of the preferences to the file.
      • Choose specific preferences to import - to add only specified preferences to the file.
    • You can read the description of the selected preference in the Description field.
    • Also you can use Select All or Deselect All buttons to select or unselected preferences.
    • Click Browse... button next to the To preference file field and locate the preferences file on the local file system.
    • You can select Overwrite existing files without warning to get no warning message that the specified preferences file already exists in your file system.
    • Click Finish button.
The selected preferences are exported to the specified file.
